Feature.
|
Deconstruction.
|
Font
|
The font is a generic styled font
used as a default, in other areas of the media; the mast-head is a simple but
effective block font, which makes it easy to read as a whole.
|
Text
|
The text
in the mast-head has been flipped and reversed to create a mirror effect
underneath the summery text; this is good because it adds slick weird style
to the mast head. The rest of the article text is set down in a large
singular column, keeping away from the newspaper style articles, by only
using one.
|
Colour
|
The
background colour on the page is a sterile white which makes the text and
main image stand out, as both the image and text are all black (with white
background). The main image has an added effect of balloons in the background
to add more detail and colours. The contrast with the text colour makes it
easy to read and more productive for the reader.
|
Body
language/staging
|
The body language of the artist is
confident from the way he is standing, and can be further backed, by showing
his success and wealth, from what he is holding and the way he’ s dressed. (Suit
and holding a bottle of trademark Rozay).
|
Framing
|
The image of the model is of a
long shot, showing the artist entire body, which is good because it leaves
plenty of room for the background and to also show the props in his hand,
then the entire suit, that he is wearing.
|
Lighting
|
The lighting of the shot is at the
centre of the image, meaning that you can see a slight background shadow,
which helps to create a 3D effect with the background as a whole. By using a
light sourced at the front of the model, there is extra shine created onto
certain areas which helps create finer detail.
|
Composition (overall design/layout)
|
The composition of the page is
good because it gives an unobstructed view of the artist, showing a moment of
fame, and then moves to the text on the second page. Having the image before
the text helps identify the article without having to read a single word.

Deconstruction of a double page spread

You understand the functions of the conventions of double page spreads very well - you also appear to have a good understanding of both connotations and denotations. However you need to ensure that all of these deconstructions relate back to your own product. You need to say when studying these products - what you like that you may use in your own magazine and what you dislike that you have decided against using.
