Deconstruction of a contents page

Feature.	Deconstruction.
Font	The font is good because it is a standard font making it easy to read, for the customers/reader, the mast head is present on the page at the top right, in an easy to read block font, then unusually, the heading for the page is larger than the any other font, places top central, where it overpowers the rest of the text.
Text	There is a reasonable amount of text on the page, showing a list of what is inside, the column on the far left has been broken down into two sections with sub-headings, the first section clearly lists the features or what is inside the magazine, such as information, then the second section is based around fashion, and fashion related topics. This is good because it adds new variety to the magazine.
Colour	The background colour is a dark blood coloured red, which adds more depth into the page than other colours, this is because it is a dark colour representing the artist on the page, to other magazines that show artist/models on light, white based colours that gives off a good impression about the person. The chains that the artist is wearing stands out as a somewhat lighter contrast, telling the reader they are of some significance.
Body language/staging	The body language of the model is confident, to such a degree it borders the intimidating overconfident pose, which is then reinforced by him showing off his jewelry, by holding them up and keeping them centre of the image. The image has been staged, onto a dark red background, giving an effect of blood, this relates back to gang life, by the jewelry saying ‘goon’ on it meaning he was part of a gang, who played the role of goon.
Framing	The framing of the image is of a mid close mid shot, that looks only at the shoulders and head, this was done so that, the readers can then be close enough to his face to look at the text written on the main piece, at the centre of the image.
Lighting	The lighting has been created, to look at the model from the left of the page; this is good because it creates a toned effect across the face of the model. The lighting also creates a shine across the jewelry, which draws focus to it first as you look over the page.
Composition (overall design/layout)	The design of the page is good in a sense that no space has been wasted, but very contradictory to that, the page has a good flow which also makes more room on the page. This is because the space without text has a subliminal message within the image such as the bottom right of the page, says in a tattoo “Gang means nothing without Respect”, which leaves text in almost every part of the page. The image stays central and takes the bottom half of the page, this is good because it leaves enough room for a mast head and heading at the top of the page.
